A firm that came upthrough the trades.
Building as YC Design and Build since 2020. It started with our founder, Keith Lee, working as an independent contractor with one or two workers.
YC began on the contractor side. Keith started out as an independent vinyl flooring contractor, with one or two workers beside him. The work grew from there into electrical, tiling, hacking, painting and the other trades a renovation needs, and the crew grew with it.
The design arm came later, and it came for a simple reason. Clients kept asking for someone to take the whole thing off their hands rather than coordinate a designer against a builder who had never met. So the studio was added to the crew that was already there.
That order matters. A design practice that later hires builders is guessing at buildability. A contractor that adds a studio already knows what the block allows, what the trades cost, and how long the sequence really takes. We quote from that knowledge rather than around it.
Today the firm handles residential and commercial work across Singapore, with its own workers on every job.
Delay is a loss of money. We move fast because the market does.
